Eastern Uni Games 2012

The Eastern University Games is the largest of the three regional university games held simultaneously across Australia for Australian tertiary students. In 2012, the Eastern University Games will attract over 2,200 participants across 16 sports.

In 2012 the sports will consist of AFL 9s, Basketball, Football, Futsal, Golf (individual), Hockey, Lawn Bowls, Netball, Rugby League 7s, Rugby Union 7s, Squash (singles), Tenpin Bowling, Tennis (singles), Touch, Ultimate and Volleyball.

In 2012, The Eastern University Games will take place in Tamworth, NSW from 1-5 July

FIONA O’LOUGHLIN SET TO KEEP THE CHUCKLES COMING

UC Live! are proud to announce Canberra’s newest comedy night the chUCkle hut will be returning to Zierholz at the University of Canberra on Friday 15 June 2012. Headlined by Australian Comedy royalty Fiona O’Loughlin with special guests Cam Knight and Ben Darsow, this event is sure to have you clutching at your sides.

Fiona O’Loughlin has taken her stand-up around the world, headlining LA’s world-renowned Improv Comedy Club, playing repeat seasons in Hong Kong and performing at Edinburgh Fringe, Montreal’s invitation-only Just For Laughs and the UK’s oldest, Leicester Comedy Festival. Fiona has also been a hit on the television with guest appearances on Sunrise, Good News Week, Spicks and Specks, The World Stands Up and a heap of Comedy Festival Galas.

S.H.A.G Week

This week UC life! will be hosting the annual S.H.A.G (Sex, Health and Guidance) week. This week is designed to promote safe sexual practices as well as giving students the opportunity to gain some important knowledge and guidance to live a healthier life.

The week kicks off on Wednesday the 7^th March with a FREE Healthy Brunch courtesy of CLV and UC Life! from 10 – 11am up on the concourse where fruit, yoghurts, juice and all things healthy will be on offer.

Following on from this will be the Great Debate to be held in the Refectory from 12 – 1:30pm. This year’s topic is on Same Sex Marriages so it’s sure to be interesting.

One of the main components of this week is our Twilight Fair which will be held from 4pm – 7pm up on the concourse. There are always plenty of activities, stalls and games to play as well as every student’s favorite thing, FREE stuff! You will also get to try your hand at some circus skills like juggling and stilt walking as this year’s theme is ‘Circus’.

At the conclusion of the Twilight Fair everyone will be heading down to the new uni bar, Zierholz, where UC Live! will be hosting a FREE Comedy Night. They’ve got three big name comedians who will be discussing the topic of S.H.A.G…ing and bringing some major LOL’s. The week will then conclude with the biggest and raunchiest party of the year, Gender Bender! Doors open at 8pm up at the refectory and entry will cost you $5 before 9pm and $10 afterwards. Make sure you get there early as there will be a very special and not to be missed performance from a couple of professional Drag Queens at 9:30pm!
